Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has announced measures to accommodate increased passenger demand during Ramadan Bayram. These measures will see a total of 8,898 extra seats added to the country’s high-speed, mainline, and regional trains.
Expanded Services on High-Speed Trains
According to Minister Uraloğlu, six additional High-Speed Train (YHT) services will operate between Ankara and Istanbul on March 19, 22, and 23. These special services will allow 2,898 more passengers to travel in comfort during the holiday period. The extra trains will depart from Ankara at 11:15 and from Istanbul at 17:45, providing more flexible travel options for passengers.
Mainline and Regional Train Enhancements
Increased Capacity Across Multiple Routes
Minister Uraloğlu also detailed that an additional 100 carriages will be added to several popular mainline and regional train routes, including the Izmir Mavi Express, Guney/Vangölü Express, Konya Mavi Express, Ege Express, 6 Eylül Express, 17 Eylül Express, Ankara Express, Uzunköprü-Halkalı Regional Train, and Edirne-Halkalı Regional Train. This expansion will provide 6,000 extra seats between March 19 and March 23, ensuring more travelers can reach their destinations comfortably.
Preparedness for Holiday Demand
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized the popularity of rail travel during holiday periods, highlighting the safety, environmental benefits, and comfort of the railway network. “We are ready for the holiday surge in demand. All planning has been completed to ensure our citizens can travel securely and comfortably to visit their loved ones,” he stated.
