Necmettin Erbakan University, in collaboration with industry, produces chips used for calibration measurements in electronic, optical, and electro-optical devices.

Bringing together scientific knowledge produced at universities with the industrial sector greatly contributes to our country’s economic and technological advancement. One of the finest examples of university-industry collaboration is being carried out in Konya under the leadership of Necmettin Erbakan University.

At the university’s Science and Technology Research and Application Center (BİTAM), chips used for calibration measurements in electronic, optical, and electro-optical devices are being produced in partnership with industry. The manufactured chips are exported to many countries worldwide.

Higher Education Council President Özvar: “Translating knowledge into practice and integrating it into the industry is as important as producing knowledge.”

Higher Education Council President Erol Özvar stated that they view universities not only as institutions conducting academic research but also as structures that directly contribute to the country’s economic development, saying, “Increasing collaboration between the business world and universities and enhancing our students’ employability is one of our top priorities.”

Prof. Dr. Doğan: “We produce products that are light in weight but high in value.”

Prof. Dr. Oğuz Doğan, a faculty member at Necmettin Erbakan University and one of the researchers involved in the chip production project, noted that they compete globally in science and technology by producing lightweight yet high-value products.

Doğan said, “The chip we produce measures 5 mm by 5 mm, is one-tenth the thickness of a human hair, and weighs 0.25 grams. We sell this 0.25-gram product for between 100and100and150, while its market price is around $200. Companies from many countries operating in the semiconductor sector, including the U.S., the Netherlands, Germany, and Japan, order the chips we produce. We even sell chips to Silicon Valley in the U.S., the heart of the semiconductor industry.”
