Minister Alparslan Bayraktar paid a series of visits in Aydın, including stops at the Provincial Governor’s Office and the local headquarters of the AK Party.
Emphasizing National Unity in Challenging Times
During his address, Minister Bayraktar underscored the significance of national unity and solidarity, noting that the world is experiencing a difficult period. He stated, “It is crucial for us to strengthen our country. Our unity and integrity are more important now than ever.”
Turkey’s Vision for the Century and Energy Independence
Minister Bayraktar referenced the ‘Century of Türkiye’ vision introduced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, highlighting its relevance to the nation’s energy policy. He pointed to recent progress, such as domestic oil production in Gabar and natural gas extraction from the Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea. Bayraktar also emphasized the role of local resources in Aydın, stating, “Producing electricity from geothermal, solar, wind and coal, and advancing in nuclear energy, are all of great significance.”
Ensuring Energy Security
Highlighting the rising demand for energy, Bayraktar remarked, “We must secure our energy supply, and that need is continuously increasing. Therefore, it is essential to utilize all our resources, especially domestic and renewable sources, in an environmentally responsible manner.” He reiterated the goal of making Turkey energy independent and reducing foreign dependency, which he said would strengthen the country internationally and keep foreign currency within Turkey.
Continued State Support for Energy Costs
The Minister reminded that the state currently covers 50% of electricity bills and 45% of natural gas bills for citizens. He confirmed that these supports will continue and added, “There is a need to adjust the system, so we are working on models that will provide greater support to those most in need, especially low-income households.”
