Minister Alparslan Bayraktar visited Aydın, meeting with young people at the ‘Söz Gençlikte’ programme organised by the AK Party Aydın Provincial Youth Branch. During the event, he addressed the changing landscape of global energy and the importance of youth in shaping Türkiye’s future.
Adapting Skills for the Digital Energy Era
Minister Bayraktar emphasised that the world is entering an era dominated by artificial intelligence and electrification, leading to an unprecedented demand for energy. He noted, “This new era requires us to develop distinct skills and abilities. Many professions will evolve or disappear, while new ones will emerge. It is essential for young people to prepare themselves for the demands of this changing world.”
Electricity at the Core of Türkiye’s Energy Strategy
Highlighting the priorities of the Türkiye Century, Bayraktar stated, “Our entire energy vision now centres on electrification. There is a significant and growing demand for energy across all sectors, and it is vital that we meet this demand through our own resources. A self-sufficient Türkiye is our fundamental goal.”
Expanding Energy Exploration Abroad
Bayraktar also shared insights on Türkiye’s efforts beyond its borders. “We are not limiting our exploration activities to Türkiye. For example, our vessel Çağrı Bey is en route to Somalia, and soon, Oruç Reis may head to Pakistan. By evaluating every alternative, we aim to reduce our energy dependency,” he explained.
Youth Empowerment for Economic Strength
Bayraktar expressed his desire for young people to live in a Türkiye that has overcome energy dependency, stating, “Such progress will strengthen our economy and keep foreign currency within our borders. Türkiye will become both economically and politically stronger. Achieving full energy independence—our ‘Kızılelma’—remains our ultimate objective.”
He concluded by reaffirming his confidence in the younger generation: “We trust our youth. I truly believe you will make significant contributions and carry our flag further.”
