Minister Alparslan Bayraktar joined students and teachers from Ankara Tevfik İleri Anatolian Imam Hatip High School for an iftar gathering, where he discussed key priorities for Turkey’s energy sector.
Emphasis on National Energy Independence
In his remarks, Minister Bayraktar reiterated Turkey’s commitment to achieving complete energy independence. He highlighted the urgent need to reduce foreign energy dependency, stating, “Recent developments have shown how essential and urgent it is to eliminate our dependence on external sources. Our ultimate goal—our ‘Kızılelma’—is for Turkey to be fully independent in energy. This journey towards energy independence is also a story of economic sovereignty and an inseparable aspect of our national security.”
Utilising Domestic and Renewable Resources
Bayraktar underlined that Turkey is working relentlessly to integrate all available energy resources into the economy, especially those that are domestic and renewable. “We are operating around the clock to ensure that our energy strategy is balanced and environmentally harmonious, always prioritising the use of our own resources,” he said.
Building Human Capital for the Energy Sector
The minister stressed the importance of well-trained human resources for the future of Turkey’s energy and natural resources sectors. “We need thousands of talented individuals—engineers, legal experts, international relations specialists, economists—across all disciplines. Only with strong teams can we reach our goals,” Bayraktar noted.
Adapting to Evolving Professions
Addressing the students, Bayraktar encouraged them to develop diverse skills, especially as artificial intelligence and technological advancements reshape traditional professions. “A good engineer should also grasp basic economics. We are entering an era where multidisciplinary knowledge will be increasingly critical,” he advised.
Encouragement for Hard Work and Perseverance
Concluding his address, Bayraktar urged students to remain diligent and persistent, stating, “We will work day and night. There is nothing that a hardworking person cannot achieve.”
