Minister Uraloğlu Addresses Economic and Security Measures
Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, spoke at the Iftar event hosted by the Isparta Young Businesspeople Association, emphasising recent global tensions and Turkey’s proactive measures. He referenced the Iran-US-Israel disputes and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, noting their impact on global stability. Addressing these challenges, Uraloğlu stated, “Our ministry has implemented measures to protect our business community during these turbulent times.”
Infrastructure Developments and Business Continuity
Investment in Isparta’s Transport Network
Uraloğlu highlighted the inauguration of the Şehit Orhan Burak Büyükçaylı Interchange and the Dörtyol-Şarkikaraağaç Road, describing them as key steps to strengthen Isparta’s transport infrastructure and accelerate local trade. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing further projects under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Adapting to Regional Risks
Discussing the impact of regional conflicts, Uraloğlu explained that the closure of Iranian, Iraqi, Jordanian, Lebanese, and Syrian airspace required the use of alternative routes, especially via Oman’s Muscat, to maintain travel and business continuity. He added, “We elevated security for Turkish-flagged vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz and guided road hauliers towards alternative countries.” The Ministry continues to actively monitor developments in the region to safeguard Turkish interests.
Commitment to Security and Economic Growth
Counterterrorism and National Investments
Uraloğlu underscored the government’s ongoing efforts towards a “Terror-Free Turkey”, highlighting the heavy toll terrorism has taken—costing the nation approximately $2.5 trillion and nearly 40,000 lives. He described the fight against terrorism as both a security measure and a major investment in the country’s future.
Major Investments in Isparta
The Minister announced over 35 billion lira in transport and communication investments in Isparta to date. Upcoming projects include the tendering and commencement of work on Dereboğazı Road and the construction of a new interchange in front of the City Hospital, with the Ministry closely tracking funding and implementation stages.
