Türkiye and Syria Sign Educational Cooperation Protocol

An official protocol was signed between the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye and the Ministry of Education of Syria to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of education.

Official Delegation Visited Damascus

Led by Deputy Minister Celile Eren Ökten, a delegation from Türkiye’s Ministry of National Education paid a working visit to Syria. During the visit, they conducted on-site evaluations at Türkiye’s Embassy in Damascus, as well as at local schools and educational institutions.

What Does the Educational Cooperation Protocol Cover?

As part of the visit, a meeting was held with Syrian Minister of Education Mohammed Abdurrahman Turko. Following the meeting, the two countries signed an Educational Cooperation Protocol, which includes joint efforts in the following areas:

  • Curriculum development
  • Vocational and technical education
  • Teacher training
  • Special education
  • Assessment and evaluation

The protocol aims to promote mutual exchange of knowledge and experience and to enhance collaboration in educational reform.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations Through Education

The cooperation initiative is expected to deepen bilateral ties between Türkiye and Syria through educational diplomacy. By sharing institutional expertise and best practices, both countries aim to contribute to regional stability and development.

Türkiye’s delegation also included Ünal Eryılmaz, Director General for EU and Foreign Relations, Özcan Duman, Director General for Construction and Real Estate, and Fethi Fahri Kaya, Director General for Higher Education and International Education.
