Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu Meets PTT Employees at Iftar
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu joined PTT employees for an iftar dinner, emphasizing the institution’s enduring role in Turkish society. Uraloğlu underlined that the PTT, established in 1840, stands as one of the nation’s most trusted organizations, with a legacy spanning 186 years.
PTT’s Core Strength: Community Connection and Service Coverage
During his address, Uraloğlu stressed that the power of PTT lies not only in its infrastructure, but also in the strong bond it maintains with the community. He praised the commitment demonstrated by PTT staff in critical moments, such as during the War of Independence, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the major earthquakes of February 6, highlighting their continuous support for citizens in need.
Expansive National Network
The Minister reported that PTT operates with approximately 38,800 personnel, 3,500 branches, and 11,400 vehicles, solidifying its pioneering status in the sector. He noted that PTT adapts its service portfolio to meet the needs of citizens, offering international postal and cargo services to over 220 destinations worldwide. Additionally, PTT provides essential services in 785 locations without banks and reaches 337 districts underserved by other cargo companies, ensuring state presence in even the most remote areas.
Innovative Projects and Future Vision
Minister Uraloğlu highlighted several key initiatives, including the Türkiye Kart Project, which integrates transportation, banking, and financial transactions into a single card for user convenience. Integration has been completed in cities such as Konya, parts of Istanbul, Kayseri, Yozgat, Rize, Gümüşhane, Adıyaman/Kahta, Hakkari/Yüksekova, Kars/Kağızman, and Çankırı, with expansion ongoing in other regions. Efforts are also underway to implement Türkiye Kart in the Marmaray rail line and in national parks for pedestrian access.
Same-Day Delivery and Sustainability Initiatives
The Same-Day Delivery project has progressed, with pilot programs launched in cities including Bursa, Ankara, Konya, Eskişehir, İzmir, Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep, Adana, Bolu, and Malatya. In Şanlıurfa and Adana, a distribution model for parcel delivery was activated, enabling millions of items to reach recipients on the same day. Planning continues for further expansion to additional provinces.
Uraloğlu also introduced the Packaging Recycling Project in Ankara, focusing on the collection and recycling of cargo packaging at the point of delivery, demonstrating the institution’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
Record-Breaking Service Volumes
Highlighting operational achievements, Uraloğlu stated that PTT’s daily cargo processing surpassed 1 million items, with combined postal and cargo deliveries reaching approximately 2.5 million items per day. He emphasized the essential role this network plays in supporting economic continuity, e-commerce growth, and public satisfaction across Turkey.
In closing, the Minister reaffirmed the commitment to enhancing PTT’s capacity, reliability, and accessibility, aiming to extend these services to all 81 provinces with a unified card system and to further improve delivery efficiency and sustainability in the years ahead.
