The officials then visited Çağrı Bey at port, where they received an operational briefing and wished success to the crew.

Curad-1: A Landmark Drilling Project
The target well, named Curad-1—meaning “firstborn” in Somali—will be drilled approximately 370 kilometers offshore at a water depth of about 3,500 meters. The drilling operation aims for a total depth of 7,500 meters, making Curad-1 one of the deepest offshore wells globally. Minister Bayraktar highlighted Turkey’s rapid advancement in deepwater capabilities, noting that Turkey now operates the world’s fourth largest deep-sea drilling fleet.
Project Timeline and Support Fleet
The drilling mission, assisted by support vessels Altan, Korkut, Sancar, and naval assets like TCG Sancaktar, TCG Gökova, and TCG Bafra, is scheduled to take between six and nine months, depending on weather conditions.
