Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has announced the rollout of 5G technology across all 81 provinces in Türkiye, highlighting a significant advancement in the nation’s digital landscape. According to Uraloğlu, there are now over 32 million 5G-compatible devices in the country, and approximately 21 million subscribers have begun using the new technology.
5G: A Strategic Milestone for Türkiye
In a recent statement, Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that the communication and information sector has become one of the most strategic fields in today’s world. He noted, “5G is not just a technological upgrade; it marks the beginning of an era that will transform Türkiye’s economy, industry, healthcare, transportation, and agriculture.”
Impact on Key Sectors
Uraloğlu explained that 5G will provide ultra-low latency and support a high density of connected devices, positioning Türkiye at the center of the ongoing digital transformation. In transportation, full autonomous driving and smart road applications will enhance road safety and efficiency. Within industry, smart factories, autonomous robots, and real-time data analytics will optimize production processes. Additionally, smart city solutions will bring innovation to energy management and parking systems, among other areas.
Commitment to Nationwide 5G Coverage
Minister Uraloğlu also referred to the 5G licensing tender held on 16 October 2025, which generated $3.534 billion in revenue through competition among three operators. The tender included requirements for operators to gradually increase their use of domestically certified products up to 60% and national communication technologies up to 30% over the coming years.
He affirmed, “We are committed to making 5G services available to every corner of our country within two years.”
